People often say that alcohol is like a truth serum. It brings out the real you, but do you agree? Because we believe that you have probably been through this, when you wake up in the morning and you left yourself wondering, “what the fuck did I say last night?”

You most likely ask yourself aloud, or to your best friend sitting there as you nurse your hangover. Be it text message, something you have said or something you did, you regret it in the morning. But those drunk ramblings weren’t just random thoughts and ridiculous notions. What your drunk mouth was spewing were all those thoughts your sober mouth didn’t have the guts to.

You either did something stupid but funny like this:

Or something fun but stupid like this:

Plenty of friendships have been destroyed and plenty of relationships have been ruined because of drunk words. Or else, plenty of them have never been better than before because those words are finally ease the weigh on your shoulders. But is there any science that explains this behavior?

Unfortunately, no. This has nothing to do with science. What we do know is that alcohol affects the Hippocampus or so called memory center, which makes us black out or stumble – but when we drunk, not even our hearts are sober.

According to Bruce Bartholow, on his book “Alcohol Effects on Performance Monitoring and Adjustment: Affect Modulation and Impairment of Evaluative Cognitive Control”, elaborated that alcohol doesn’t make you behave badly, it just makes you care less.

Alcohol dulls the brain’s alarm signal that warns you when you’re making a mistake, so admit that there was a part of you that knew what you were saying or doing when you drunk. Only that moment you didn’t care about how those words would affect you or your surroundings later. With that being said, your excuse or apology doesn’t cut it anymore because actually you can control it, only if you want to.

BUT, who cares? That’s what drinking is all about, isn’t it? Whirling, tumbling gambles of life where we celebrate everything by drowning ourselves in booze and creating memories. Even when drunk you did something dumb last night – yes you’ll be embarrassed but believe us, no great stories ever started with someone eating salad.

P.S.:  We didn’t say yes of you sleeping with your best friend’s boyfriend though.
