Why Do We Love This?
The Chateau De Gourd has been owned by the Balan family for over two generations. Set on the hills, the vineyard covers 15 hectares. Thanks to the proximity of the Garonne, the vines are preserved as much as possible of spring frost and summer heat. Mainly composed of clay and limestone, the soil of Chateau de Gourd is ideal for the cultivation of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The blend of these varieties can produce the best wines for aging. The wines of Château Gourd are mainly produced to be enjoyed when they are young. It reveals some structure and some aromatic complexity. With their long experience, the estate's owners know perfectly all the characteristics of each plot. Their unique expertise and the exceptional terroir allow the Chateau De Gourd to produce a very charming and well balanced wine.
Château de Gourd 2018 has a deep ruby colour. The nose, complex and fruity, offers red
fruit notes with a nice spicy touch. On the palate, the wine presents a good structure and reveals round tannins. The attack, rich and ample, delivers cherry and raspberry aromas.
