A little village in the province of Flemish Brabant in Belgium, Hoegaarden is the birthplace of 'Wheat Beer'. It all started here in around 1445 with monks who divided their time between devotion, and the manufacture of wine and beer. The monks discovered the unique recipe for Hoegaarden wheat beer using their access to the diverse range of herbs and spices being imported from the East Indies. Today, Hoegaarden's award -winning wheat beers are now enjoyed worldwide. The secret to Hoegaarden's refreshing sweet -sour taste is the blend of ingredients: the zest of oranges and coriander create the unique fruity and spicy flavour. Hoegaarden is unfiltered, which gives it its natural cloudiness and preserves the distinctive aromas.
